BUFFONE: Cager Classic to Take Place this Weekend

The fifteenth annual A-K Cager Classic will take this weekend at Highlands High School in Natrona Heights. The skills competition kicks off the action tonight at 7pm. The games themselves will start on Saturday with the girls tipping things off at 6pm while the boys will start immediately after at 8pm. The two teams are made up of the East and West and were determined by which side of the Allegheny River their school resides. Throughout the years that the Classic has been in existence, the competition has been exhilarating to say the least. The all-time series between the East and the West is currently tied at 7-7 for both the boys and girls. Some notable local athletes participating at the classic are Nathan Stolitza (Kittanning) and Garrett Sigler (Ford City) for the boys teams while Kittanning’s Leah McKelvey and Sara Ohm and Ford City’s Ashlee Panchik and Maggi Russo will be competing in the girls matchup. The games will be rebroadcast on Family Life TV on Sunday and WTYM AM 1380 on Sunday beginning at 2PM.
