RANT: Dr. Solak / RAVE: Mr. Yankasky
RANTS:
Dr. James Solak broke the rules. It clearly states that the public may comment, but that the School Board will not respond.
During John Yankasky’s public comment at last night’s Armstrong School District public meeting, he was interrupted by Dr. Solak who wanted to debate his comments.
Director Joseph Close was correct in telling Board President Rose Stitt that Dr. Solak’s comments were out of order.
While the public understands Dr. Solak’s desire to “set the record straight” as he sees it, his poor timing and improper protocol takes the focus off the topic and diminishes his argument.
RAVES:
We applaud Mr. Yankasky’s tenacity IF he indeed accepts Dr. Solak’s request for a televised debate. A debate, with proper time restraints for both sides, would perhaps get these two ideologies better framed so the public can understand it better. While we are certainly seeing the direction of the current school board, a televised debate would give the public insight to the plan People for Progress have for the district. Is a new building truly in their focus and total consolidation their proposal? A debate would answer those questions.
