Local Barn Contains Christmas Wonders
My Dad's Farm used to be a working barn full of cows, hay, and equipment. This weekend it will be full of Christmas crafts and antiques.

As visitors to “My Dad’s Farm” enter the doors of a large barn on the property this weekend, awaiting them inside will be items much more beautiful than what normal farm visitors might expect.
This weekend, “My Dad’s Farm” will kick off a Christmas Craft and Antique Show for its fourth year. Items on display will include wood products, antiques, candles, stained-glass, furniture and accessories, quilts, rugs, hand-painted items, hand-decorated cards, purses, jewelry, pottery, scarves, wreaths, jellies, and much more.
“We have everything,” said co-organizer and daughter of the farm’s owners Julie Fiscus. “I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s packed in there. It’s beautiful in my opinion.”
According to Fiscus, the event at “My Dad’s Farm” provides a space for many local vendors who don’t want to travel in order to show their crafts. It helps them to show their items and make a little bit of money selling them. Also, unlike some other craft shows, there is no fee for admission or parking.
Vendors from outside the immediate region also come in to the event from Wexford, Natrona Heights, New Bethlehem, Dayton, Ohio, and other out-of-state areas.
“We do the show, and I have over 70 vendors in there that bring their things,” said Fiscus. “The whole barn’s decorated. It isn’t like when you go to a craft show at a fire hall or whatever where it has lined-up tables. It’s decorated almost like you’d walk into a show or a house. We have a lot of men that come just to see the barn because they are thinking, ‘how can something like this be going on in a barn.’ It was a working barn at one time. We’ve done a few changes to it. It has some rough-cut wood on the walls because we had to be able to hang things, but other than that when there is nothing in there it is pretty primitive looking.”
A focal point of the inside of the barn is a fully decorated 17-foot Christmas tree.
In order to bring in all of the many different types of items and get everything looking just right, Fiscus, her husband Keith, and other friends work on the event for about two months before opening day. One of the features that visitors will notice right off the bat is a decorated 17-foot Christmas tree which is right in the center of the barn. “There are a total of nine trees that are decorated,” said Fiscus.
“My Dad’s Farm” is located at 345 Fort Run Road in Ford City. The Christmas Craft and Antique Show will be taking place all of this weekend, November 5 through 7, and next weekend as well, November 12 through 14. Hours for the event will be Fridays, 12AM until 8PM and Saturdays and Sundays, 10AM until 4PM. For more information, interested residents can call 724-664-0077.
