Citizens Force Bank Robber to Surrender

Two local citizens are being credited with foiling a robbery at the Marion Center Bank in Dayton yesterday.

Robin Beeman from Rural Valley is charged with robbery of Dayton bank.

Robin Lynn Beeman, 41, of Rural Valley is accused of entering the bank and demanding money from bank tellers Melissa Wadding, 42, and Darla Blouse, 47, both of Dayton. Beeman was wearing a mask and had a gun.

Jennifer Geist, a bank customer, was in the bank chatting with the tellers when Beeman entered the bank. Geist was the only customer in the bank at the time of the robbery.

“I was done being waited on. I was just visiting with the girls there,” Geist said. She (Beeman) just came in and pulled the gun out, and I ran out of the bank. I did not see any money being handed over or any of that.” Geist was not injured in the incident.

Beeman left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Two citizens in the area, Shelia Crawford and Sandra Hinderliter, became aware of the robbery as Crawford was entering the bank following the holdup. The two women began driving around in Crawford’s Jeep and located Beeman several minutes lator in a nearby alley. The women were able to talk her into surrendering to them. Crawford then drove Beeman back to the bank where she surrendered to Pennsylvania State Police troopers responding to the robbery who happened to be in the area on an unrelated incident.

Beeman’s mask, the gun (which turned out to be a BB gun), and all the stolen money were recovered.

Beeman was charged with felony charges of Robbery, Theft by Unlawful Taking, and Receiving Stolen Property. She was also charged with a misdemeanor charge of Simple Assault. She was arraigned before District Magisterial Judge J. Andring and incarcerated in the Armstrong County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond.
