OBIT: Wayne A. (Hart) Giesler (Sarver)

Wayne worked for WACB in the early years of radio in the early 1950s as a band member for live music. Later that decade, Wayne was asked by station management to become a disc jockey.

Local entertainer and former radio personality Wayne A. (Hart) Giesler, 75, of Sarver, passed away on October 25, 2010 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born March 15, 1935 in Marwood, he was the son of Albert “Singer” and Frieda K. (Lang) Giesler.

Wayne graduated from Winfield High School. He worked as personnel manager for Pullman Standard for 28 years and Northwest Savings Bank for 14 years. Wayne had a country band for 51 years named “Wayne Hart and Pure Country.”

He was a member of the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot, was a lifelong member of the Lyndora and Brackenridge American Legion, White Star Fraternal Society in Freeport, the VFW in Freeport, the Sarver Veteran’s Club, the Tarentum Eagles, and the Slovak Club in North Vandergrift. Wayne enjoyed baseball, the Pittsburgh Steelers, country music, and spending time with his family. He loved to entertain and make people happy.

Wayne appeared in a band that played live on the air during the early days of WACB radio in the 1950’s.

Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years Honey (Lincoln) Giesler; his two sons: Wayne (Toni) Giesler, Jr. of Fenelton and Cody (Stacy) Giesler of Center Township; two daughters: Penny (Denny Bacher) Dietz of Cabot and Heidi (Mark) Bringenberg of Sarver; six grandchildren: Kelly (Rick) Kimsey, Kayla (Jeremy) Dietz, Dakota Bringenberg, Tanner Bringenberg, Kamryn Giesler, and Zachary Wayne Giesler; one great-grandchild Adelyn Gugino; one brother Francis (Lorraine) Giesler; two sisters: Glenda Giesler and Karen (Tom) Eurich; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceeded in death by his parents; a brother Daryl Giesler; a granddaughter Megan Dietz; and one great-granddaughter Lillie Kay Kimsey.

Friends will be received at the Fox Funeral Home in Saxonburg on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 6-8 PM and on Thursday, October 28 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.

Wayne worked as a disc jockey for WACB in 1956.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 11AM at the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot with the Reverend Barry Keirilainen officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Luke Cemetery.
