Ford City to Host Miss Armstrong County Pageant

The Miss Armstrong County Scholarship Pageant is scheduled to be held in the Ford City High School Auditorium on Saturday, November 13, at 7PM.

According to Executive Director Kathy Rashlich, this year the pageant has been designated as a “closed” pageant. This change means that contestants must reside, be employed, or attend school in Armstrong County. Contestants must be a minimum of 17 years old and a Senior in High School or a maximum age of 23 and attending a college or university. Also, contestants must have never been married and be of good moral character.

The competition will consist of two events; a private interview between the contestant and judge’s panel in the morning and the pageant that will be held in the evening and open to the public. During the evening pageant, the contestants will compete in swimwear, talent, evening wear, and an on stage question. Each contestant will also need a platform that she would like to promote during her reign. It can be an established organization, for example American Cancer Society, Heart Association, Relay for Life, or one that she has designed herself to promote a cause or program that she believes in.

The winner of the pageant will receive a scholarship, sash, crown, and a spot to compete in Miss Pennsylvania in June 2011 at the Syria Mosque in Cheswick, PA. The deadline for contestants to register is Sunday, October 31, 2010.

Any ladies interested in competing can direct fact sheets and platform information to Kathy Rashlich at Kathy_815@yahoo.com or mail to 2407 Lincoln Way, Ford City, PA 16226. Any questions can be addressed by calling 724-664-2698.

Admission for the November 13 event will be $8 in advance or $10 at the door.
