Local Merchant Gets Ready for Spring Sale

Sears Owner Dan Shaffer demonstrates a lawn tractor to a customer at the Franklin Village store.
With temperatures into the 60s this week, homeowners are considering lawn and garden items they will need to begin the Spring season.
Sears Owner Dan Shaffer said his store is well stocked as they get ready for hundreds of customers that will attend the Friends & Family Sale Sunday and Monday.
“This is the time people are getting ready to cut grass with the great weather we are having,” he said. “We’ve had a lot of customers already looking to upgrade their mowers or to replace their lawn mowers because of the nice weathe we are having right now.”
Shaffer said the special sale will feature savings of up to 40% on various items in the store.
“We will take an initial 20% off all appliances; then - just because its Friends & Family - we will take an extra 15% off all appliances! And if you use your Sears card, get another 5% or 12 months with no interest. This could give you up to 40% off appliances this coming weekend.
“There is also an additional 10% off including lawn and garden.”
Shaffer said that in addition to the savings, customers can save even more through price matching.
“We want you to decide what appliance you want. If it’s something other than Kenmore, we will searche everybody else’s website - Lowes, Home Depot, H.H. Craig, Best Buy… and make sure you always get the lowest price. And with this weekend being up to 40% off, we are way below the other competitors.”
The Friends & Family Sale begins at 1PM Sunday, March 13 and runs until 7PM on Monday, March 14.

Dan and his crew run a fine store and are a shining example of how it should be done. I’ve always been happy shopping there and Dan is as good of a guy as there is.
With that said though is this NEWS? You know like news that appears in a NEWSpaper?
Or, is this an advertorial?
Oh, and 25% off plus another 15% off plus 5% more is not 40% off. I believe it works out to 34.5%. A small point but if you tell people 40% off they might expect it to actually be 40%.
I wish Dan and his store continued success and will be going there when it need something they sell.

Good comment, Rainbow Rider, good comment. Let’s read the same thing for Gardner’s Candies and Radio Shack (if it is still there).

By the way, Rainbow Rider, this is the second infomercial that I’ve seen for Sears in the KP.
