OBIT: Walter R. Richardson (formerly of Kittanning)

Walter Richardson - now, and as the folk in Kittanning would have remembered him.

RICHARDSON - Walter Ray Richardson, 92, of Clearwater Florida, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, May 7, 2016.

Walter was born on June 11, 1924, son of the late Walter and Iva Richardson. He graduated from Kittanning High School in 1942 and entered the United States Navy. He served during World War II and the Korean War for total of 8 years. He married Virginia Ann Stewart in July 1947.

Walter was a very kind and gentle soul. He had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. He loved fishing and building model airplanes.

Walter worked at Allis Chambers Corporation for 28 years in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Clearwater, Florida in 1976 and worked at Square D Corporation until he retired in 1986.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Virginia, in 2007 and his grandson, Nathaniel Richardson, of Seminole, in 2009.

Walter and Virginia (Ginny) had three children: Dale Richardson and his wife Phyllis of South Carolina, Karen Chovan and her husband Chuck, of Kingwood, Texas and Robert Richardson and his wife Diane, of Seminole, Florida. Walter has 5 grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday May 14, 2016 from 11:30 until time of service at 12:30 PM at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, Clearwater, Florida. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park. Friends and relatives are invited.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Suncoast Hospice Foundation in Walter’s name.
