The Information Center appears in the Kittanning Paper on Page 2 daily and are featured daily on WTYM AM 1380 / FM 103.7 radio. It promotes events held by non-profit organizations only.

 

FREE MEAL - a free meal will be served on October 1st from 4:00 - 5:30 PM in the church basement of Grace Presbyterian church. This month’s menu is: creamed chicken with peas over a fresh biscuit, mashed potatoes with gravy, peaches and blueberry cake for dessert. ALL are welcome.

CHURCH ANNIVERSARY - Simpson Bible Church is celebrating its 125th Anniversary with a 7-day revival. Kickoff Service is at 10:30am on Sunday, 9/30 with Simpson’s own Pastor Josh Webb. That Evening and every evening that week beginning at 7pm, Sun. 9/30- will be Pastor Chuck King, Monday 10/1- Pastor Scott Keifer, Tues. 10/2- Worship Music with Kevin Anthony, Wed. 10/3- Pastor Fred Kison, Thurs. 10/4- Pastor Walter Marr, Friday, 10/5- Pastor Mitch Tepper, Sat. 10/6- Evangelist Jim Wagner, Sunday morning Service- Pastor Josh Webb and Sunday Evening beginning at 6pm and lasting until 8pm, Pastor Brandon Weiss will be delivering a message/celebration for the children. CHRISTMAS FOOD/TOY SIGN-UP - The Salvation Army (205 South Jefferson Street, Kittanning) will be holding their Christmas sign-ups from Monday-Thursday, October 1-4. The hours are: Monday and Wednesday from 9AM-3PM and Tuesday and Thursday from 9AM-2PM and 5:30-7:30 PM. The make-up date is Monday, November 5 from 9AM-3PM. You must bring: Driver’s license/ID, Proof of income and proof of all bills (for the last 30 days)and proof of the child’s birth date (ages 14 and younger). PROJECT BUNDLE-UP SIGN UP - The Salvation Army (205 South Jefferson Street, Kittanning) will be holding the Project Bundle-up sign-ups for winter coats, hats, gloves and boots for ages birth to age 18 and ages 62 and older on Monday-Thursday, October 1-4 from 9AM-2PM. You must bring: Driver’s license/ID, proof of income and proof all bills (for the last 30 days) and proof of the child’s birth date. First come, first serve. Spots are limited. If you do not qualify or you miss the sign-ups, we will have a coat drive on Tuesday, October 30 at The Salvation Army, 9AM-12 Noon. If you have any questions, please call 724-543-6622.

GIRTY ROAD - PennDOT will have an open house to display plans for the Route 2027 Fagley Run Bridge #2 replacement project on October 2 from 5:30 until 7PM at the South Bend Municipal Building. This is the bridge that carries Girty Road over Fagley Run. Info on schedule, design, and right-of-way acquisition will be available for review and comment. Public is invited to attend.

LEGENDS OF THE LIBRARY comes to the Ford City Library on Oct. 4th at 5:30 PM. It is a new local history series that features a Ford City Trivia Game, with prizes for the top scorers donated from local businesses. Refreshments will also be served. SENIOR AUCTION EVENT - at the Worthington Senior Center, October 6 from 4PM-???. Auctioneer is Irish Mike. Public is welcome to attend. It is sponsored by the Senior Center Site Council. For info, call 724-297-3668.

FALL FOR ANIMALS FESTIVAL will be held October 6 from 11AM until 7PM and October 7 from Noon until 6:30 PM at the Crooked Creek Horse Park. Festival benefits Orphans of the Storm animal shelter.

BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS will be held at Spring Church Lutheran Church, 3623 Lutheran Church Road, Apollo (4 miles east of Apollo on Route 56) at 1PM on Saturday, October 6. All animals and their humans are welcome. A brief time for treats will follow the blessing.

FALL FESTIVAL at the Center Hill Church of the Brethren, 2039 Freeport Road, Kittanning. Saturday, October 6, serving from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. hot sandwiches, drinks, homemade apple dumplings, pumpkin pie and ice cream. Take Outs Available. For more info, call 724-548-7226.

DARE2SHARE LIVE! Be part of a national teen movement of gospel conversations on October 13, 2018 from noon-7:30 pm at Harvest Community Church – Kittanning Campus (143 Reed Road, Kittanning). Dare 2 Share Live is a national, live, multi-site training and outreach event that will inspire and unleash teens to spark a movement of Gospel conversations throughout the nation. AMATEUR RADIO FCC TEST - The Fort Armstrong Wireless Association will be holding is quarterly amateur radio testing session on Saturday, October 20 at 2PM at the Armstrong County Emergency Operation Center at 131 Armsdale Road in Rayburn Township. Those interested in testing to receive their FCC amateur radio license or to upgrade an existing license are welcome to attend. The fee to take the test is $15 payable by cash or check. Please bring a photo ID and a copy of your current FCC license if you’re looking to upgrade.

FAMILY NIGHT CELEBRATION - Monday, October 22, from 4:30 until 7PM at the Lenape Vo-Tech Gymnasium. The event will have free entertainment, crafts, games, and refreshments for children, teens, and families. All activities are free. The event is held in conjunction with Community Awareness Day, a collaborative initiative to educate all segments of the community to the importance of being non-violent, substance-free, and respectful members of society.

ELK SEMINAR - Have you “herd” that there’s elk in PA? Learn from SW Field Director, Karlee Holmes, about the elk herd, the Keystone Elk Country Alliance, where to stay and what to do in PA’s Elk County!
