NexTier Bank Robber Sentenced to Prison
Even though he has been in the Armstrong County Jail for more than 230 days, Matthew Crossman, 29, will serve a minimum of two-and-a-half years due to the NexTier Bank robbery in February 2014.

A Marion Center man who pleaded guilty to stealing more than $1,300 from a NexTier Bank in Manor Township was sentenced to jail time yesterday.
Matthew James Crossman, now 29, of Marion Center, was sentenced by Armstrong County President Judge Kenneth Valasek to serve 30-60 months (or up to five years) in a state Department of Corrections facility for his role in the February 18, 2014 robbery.
Crossman was arrested this past April by Pennsylvania State Police troopers in Indiana County and the Armstrong County Sheriff’s Department. Former Manor Township Police Officer Josh Stanga led that investigation.
“The multiple dealings that he had prior to the bank robbery with description of the same clothing helped identify him and make him the prime suspect,” Officer Stanga previously said.
“He was identified from the very beginning, so we kept a close eye on him. We knew where he was at at all times throughout the investigation until I could gather enough evidence and put a strong case together against him.”
Crossman was charged with nearly a dozen crimes stemming from the robbery – including six felonies (such as three different robbery counts, criminal mischief and flight to avoid apprehension) – before pleading guilty to felony robbery in September.
Armstrong County Sheriff Bill Rupert said the collaboration across the county and municipal police units led to this arrest.

Below is Mr. Crossman’s rap sheet covering back to 2004.
Can someone tell me why he was out of jail and able to commit this crime? Anyone want to bet on how long he serves for this crime? I’m betting it will be the minimum of 30 months!
