BENNETT: Gold, Silver, and Lead
by Jack Bennett
The precious metals of freedom are Gold, Silver and Lead.
President Barack Obama is setting the table to ban your ammunition–all of it. (not just green tip)
“Oh, here he goes again!” “More rhetoric on gun control.” “This guy just won’t give up!” “Get a life!”
Are those your comments? Is that how you feel? Welcome to the world of deception. Just remember and don’t be fooled by the administration’s recent decision to back off from its proposed ban on common rifle ammunition. Even their own words, “at this time”–leave no doubt that their scheme to ban even more ammunition will be back.
The BATFE director Todd Jones has suggested that any 5.56 round–not just the M855 version–should be banned.
Why is the President pushing this ammo ban so hard ? Because if he can set a precedence by banning AR-15 ammunition, he is well on his way to banning any and all ammo.
Simply put, if he can ban one type of ammunition, he can ban it all.
Even now the President’s bureaucrats at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are trying to ban all lead projectiles. Then when the lead is replaced by copper, they will then call the ammo “armor piercing” and ban it too.
As you can see, when it comes to the never-ending fight to preserve the Second Amendment, words matter.
Take the word “prevention”, a basic deception of the gun-ban movement. No law can prevent any human behavior.
Drunk driving is a crime. But no law can prevent some drunk from taking a legally licensed vehicle out and killing someone.
Thousands of times each day in our nation, murderers, rapists and robbers choose to commit violent crimes. None of these acts can be prevented by a law. Yet “prevention” is the soothing formula of those who would steal our liberty. In truth, the only function of any law against criminal behavior is to provide punishment after arrest, trial and conviction.
Words matter! Truth Matters. The word “prohibit” is another favorite of gun-banners and amounts to a half-lie, a convenient omission to hide the truth about existing federal law.
The gun banners never ever say that simple possession of any firearm by prohibited persons such as convicted violent felons is a crime because they know that if the public understood the truth, there would be no reason for additional laws.
As peaceable gun owners–as citizens most threatened by all of this–we know what the twisted words mean. The truth is–and billionaire gun-ban mogul (from New York) Michael Bloomberg knows it–every convicted felon arrested anywhere for a crime of violence could be taken off the street by vigorous federal prosecution of existing federal law. But it doesn’t happen.
If you ask a thinking person how many of Bloomberg’s schemes “prevent violence” what is their answer ? How does any of this keep guns out of the hands of criminals? It doesn’t.
As responsible gun owners we must be prepared to explain the truth, define the deceptions and win one vote at a time.
