OBIT: Catherine Bordick Brown (formerly of Ford City)

Catherine Bordick Brown, 90 - formerly of Ford City - died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

She was born September 13, 1924 in New Bethlehem, the daughter of Theodore and Barbara Shalayda Elash.

Catherine was retired from Ford City National Bakery.

Of the Catholic faith, she loved reading and loved her grandchildren.

She was a loving grandmother and aunt, and a friend to many.

Catherine was the wife of her deceased first husband, Michael Adam Bordick and second husband, Charles E. Brown.

Catherine is survived by her son, Michael A. And Rose M. Bordick, of Kittanning; daughter, Sandra and Ray Prazenica, of Boiling Springs; three grandchildren: Carina (and Jeremy) Loushe, Matthew Prazenica and Martha Kiner and Michael N. Bordick; five great-grandchildren: Chase, Nathan, Christian, Austin and Thorin; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Catherine was preceded in death by her four brothers: Walter Elash, John Elash, Gabrial Elash and Paul; and five sisters: Ann Elash, Mary Elash, Eva Smolik, Martha Lukowsky - her twin sister - and Helen Elash.

Friends will be received from 6- 9PM Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Mantini Funeral Home in Ford City.

Additional visitation will be offered before the 11:30AM funeral service Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the funeral home.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
