Braddock Man Arrested for Attempting Teenage Sexual Assault

A Braddock man was arrested Monday for allegedly assaulting two teenagers he met online.
Joshua Patterson, 34, was arrested by state police troopers after he admitted to meeting two 14-year-old girls in Boggs Township last week for sexual purposes. Patterson met the girls on myyearbook, a social media website, and had been conversing with the girls on Skype for approximately two months pretending to be 19-year-old “Joshua Phillips.”
According to Police, Patterson tried to hug one of the girls May 4, but the teens became frightened and ran away. Patterson grabbed a hooded sweatshirt worn by one of them, but both were able to leave safely, at which point Patterson also drove away in his Kia SUV.
After an investigation through cell phone records, Patterson agreed to meet with state police troopers Monday and was arrested. He also confessed to meeting other teenage girls through the social media website.
Patterson’s cell phone, laptop, desktop and other electronic devices were seized after a search warrant was issued.
He is currently in Armstrong County Jail on $75,000 bond, charged with statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors and criminal use of his communication facilities.
