OBIT: Rodney A. Hiles (Sugarcreek Township)

Rodney Arthur Hiles, 77, of Sugarcreek Township, died at home on Wednesday, May 9, 2012.

He was born on March 24, 1935 in Bradys Bend Township, a son of William Arthur Hiles and Nettie Vance (Wiles) Hiles. He was an area resident all of his life.

He retired as a supervisor for the Indspec Chemical Corporation.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Community Church of Chicora, where he was a deacon.

He assisted in starting the Sugarcreek Ambulance Service with Distinguished Service Award in Recognition of exceptional leadership and devoted service. He also served as an EMT from 1976 until 1989. He also served with the Sugarcreek Township Fire
Company.

He is survived by his wife: Edith Hiles; two sons: Robert Hiles of Kittanning, and Scott (Marcy) Hiles of Sugarcreek Township; a daughter: Kimberly (Jay) Maycock of Sugarcreek Township; three grandsons: Heath McCrea of Sugarcreek Township, Rodney J. Hiles of Kittanning, and Robert Dodds of Cleveland, Ohio; two granddaughters: Alisha Maycock of East Franklin Township, and Leah (Walter) Vlassich of Sugarcreek Township; two great-grandchildren: Thomas J. Vlassich and Jacob Vlassich, both of Sugarcreek Township.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Britany M. Maycock of East Franklin Township.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning. Visitation will continue on Saturday, May 12, from 10AM until the time of a funeral service at 11AM at the St. Paul’s Community Church. The Reverend Dr. Randall Forester will officiate.
