Trick or Treaters of Worthington were given an extra special treat as the civic center held its second annual Halloween party last Friday night.

The event included prizes for best costume, games, and a bonfire - complete with a hotdog roast. All the activities were free to the participants.

Secretary Dave Rufaner, an originator of the event, was grateful to the local area for their sponsorships.

“We are able to do this for free thanks to donations from the Borough and the township,” Rufaner said.

Two of the games were donated by the Worthington-West Franklin Library. There were a lot of volunteers that helped make this night possible . Carol Page and Jean McCleary were head of the snack table that included a lot of goodies, with some apple cider and hot cocoa to drink.

Timi Kast, Larole Maley and Katherine Bowser were head of the games and prizes.

Melanie Bowser coordinated the scavenger hunt and door prizes.

The night went without incident. Worthington is already planning for next year’s event and wants to make it a local tradition.

Children, ages 0-5, participate in a costume contest at the Worthington Civic Center for Halloween.

Sounds like a great time and hopefully this does become a town tradition. It’s nice to know people in the community just do good things out of the goodness of their hearts!

I don’t know about all that, but thanks. I do have to add that the WWF Fire Department also sponsors the party, and thanks to them as well as to everyone who helped out.
