9/7/1968 - A Kittanning man with a 26-year employment record with Linde Division of Union Carbide, G. Paul Helm, has been appointed manager of the division’s air separation plant here. Helm has traveled extensively around the country assisting in the building, start-up, and maintenance of various Linde customer plants. At present, he is assisting in start-up of a plant in the Saar Valley near Frankfurt, Germany.
9/7/1968 - Over 2,000 campers were at Crooked Creek park for the 5th annual Tee Pee Chapter (Armstrong County) of the National Campers and Hikers Association for a two-day “live in”. Trailers and tents of all sizes and shapes cover the upper portion of the park providing a recreation haven for executives, doctors, lawyers, businessmen, factory workers and housewives who travel looking for a place to unwind. Bethel Township firemen Lyle Townsend and Verle Pierce had a fire truck stationed at the park in case of an emergency.
9/7/1963 - Francis “Dutch” Laube, president of Freeport Brick Company, will be honored by the Freeport Kiwanis Club on 23 Sept. The event will acknowledge Laube’s contributions to Freeport area recreation opportunities and other civic services.
9/7/1963 - Before one of the biggest opening day crowds in years, the Ford City Sabers bowed to Freeport, 13-7, last night under the lights on the Ford City HS field. More than 2000 fans witnessed the game.
9/7/1948 - Ford City- The Armstrong Co. Fair opened yesterday with a crowd estimated by fair association official ones at 25000.
9/7/1948 - Union laborers returned to work today in the Kittanning district after a temporary agreement was reached by the Laborers Local #952 and the General Contractors Association of Kittanning. After demands were made for a pay hike, laborers on several Kittanning district projects stopped work last Thursday.

9/7/1948 - Miss Josephine Wilson, former Kittanning school teacher, has gone to Coral Gables, FL; where she has taken up new work as resident council at the University of Miami.
9/7/1943 - The 1943-1944 school year got underway in Kittanning public school Tuesday morning with 2033 children reporting for first day classes.
9/7/1943 - Electric service in several rural Kittanning areas was interrupted, and holiday traffic on Market St. was tied up for nearly an hour when a primary distribution line of West Penn Power Co. was struck by lightning at 9:15 pm Monday.
9/7/1938 - Fire which is believed to have started by spontaneous combustion at 4:55 pm yesterday, leveled a barn owned by Anthony Donavich, near Adams Corners, East Brady Rd. Flames gained headway so fast that it was deemed useless to summon a fire department. Loss was placed at about $5000.
9/7/1938 - A small building “boom” is in progress at the northern end of the Johnston Ave and along the bluff overlooking it. 4 homes are under construction and a 5th one, recently built, is already occupied.
9/7/1933 - Beginning today, all buses and trucks of a carrying capacity of 2 tons or more are required by law to carry at least 2 red or yellow burning danger or caution signals, with friction cap ignition.
9/7/1933 - Fanned by a high wind, flames damaged a large frame property owned by Buffington heirs on Typewriter Hill. Firemen from the 3 Kittanning Hose companies put out the fire.
9/7/1933 - Cadogan public school opened with an enrollment of approximately 300 students.
9/7/1928 - The 4th annual groundhog supper of Templeton Knights of Pythias Lodge was given in the lodge hall. This was the first event held in the newly acquired lodge hall.
9/7/1928 - One of the largest enrollments in history of the Ford City parochial schools was received with the opening of St. Mary and St. Francis schools this week. The latter one had an enrollment of 345 students to start the year. At St. Mary school, there were 244 students in class on the first day.
