Elinore “Ellie” Stoops, 89, peacefully entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 surrounded by love.
She was born January 14, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pa; the daughter of the late Dr. David and Ruth (Fitzgerald) Wolfe. Her beloved husband, Harold Stoops, of 62 years preceded her in death in 2011.
Ellie graduated from Oliver High School, Pittsburgh, PA and attended Grove City College. She was employed for a brief time with Bell of PA prior to accepting her life-long career as wife, mother and grandmother and did so with immeasurable devotion, unselfishness, grace and unconditional love. She was a member of Eastern Star, Kittanning Chapter #277 and was of Protestant faith.
She grew up with a love for baseball. First for the Pittsburgh Pirates and in later years, she adopted the Tampa Bay Rays as “her boys” and rarely missed watching a game.
During her life, Ellie lived in Pittsburgh, PA; Miami, FL; Kittanning, PA; New Kensington, PA; Tampa, FL and Homosassa, FL. She will live forever in the hearts and cherished memories of those who survive her: son Ken (Lori), daughter Nancy (Bobby Libengood), son Stuart (Tina), son David (Mary), grandchildren Emily, Amanda, James, Tina and great-granddaughter Loma.
A private service and interment next to her beloved husband will be held on January 14, 2018 to celebrate her life and her 90th birthday on this side of Heaven.
“Mom — We live each day wondering how we will get through it. And then we remember that you would want us to”. Forever missed. Forever loved.
