Mark Feeney took to the podium Tuesday night to offer gratitude to Kittanning Borough for services made available to other municipalities throughout the year.
Mark Feeney wears a lot of hats. He’s council president to his fellow residents of Applewold. He heads up operations of the East Franklin Township Fire Department. He is also the fire marshal for North Buffalo Township.
On Tuesday night, Feeney included Kittanning Borough in his rounds, stopping to extend gratitude for multiple areas of assistance over the past year.
“As Applewold Borough Council President, I thank you for still doing the agreement for police protection. The police did an outstanding job last year as always. We appreciate the support.”
As East Franklin Fire Chief, he continued his comments.
“After having the fatal fire we had last week, the importance of mutual aid - the aid the fire departments give each other from town to town and borough to borough - is outstanding! Your truck actually beat our truck there. They were returning from a vehicle accident and they were in first. From the time the call was received until the knock-down of the fire and the fire victims were found, was 17 minutes. For a daylight fire around here with volunteers, that’s outstanding. We cannot do that without your support.”
Feeney’s voice cracked several times and he made his impassioned remarks.
“From our fire department, I just want to tell you that we couldn’t do it without you. Same thing when all the flooding comes, you need us and we need you. Thank you for supporting your local fire departments and thank you for letting us use them back and forth across the river.”
