Northpointe Manufacturer Awarded in Florida
A Northpointe Industrial Park business received a national award this past week.
The 2014 USA Material Supplier of the Year is AP Services (Curtiss-Wright).
Utilities Service Alliance (USA) is a not-for-profit cooperative designed to facilitate collaboration among its member utilities.
AP Services, one of the first businesses to locate in Northpointe almost 14 years ago, is the leader in fluid sealing technologies and services to the power generation and petro/chemical industry.
Employing 80 people, AP Services is recognized as a “Best in Class” company, delivers solutions to improve equipment reliability and reduce cost. In addition, AP Services has state-of-the-art gasket manufacturing technology using CNC driven Water Jet cutters.
Division Manager Mike Sheehan happily added that this was AP Services’ 5th award.
“Our sealing products line is a blend of manufactured and distributed products. Our manufactured products include proprietary valve packing technologies that have the lowest leak rates and friction in the industry.
We also manufacture graphite pressure seals that are used by nearly every nuclear power plant and Valve OEM.”
Sheehan said that he attributes the award to the smart, motivated employees at the company.
Armstrong County Industrial Development Council Chair Dennis Smail,
Senator Don White (R-41), PA Representative Jeff Pyle (R-60), and the Armstrong County Board of Commissioners echoed each other by stating how very proud they were to have a local company recognized as a national industry leader.
“People need to know that good things are happening at Northpointe,” Sen. White said.
Suppliers are chosen for this prestigious award by representatives from USA member utilities. Members complete evaluations and scoring for USA suppliers based on multiple factors, including quality of products and services, continuous improvement and realized savings.
Joe Cinelli and Tad Gray accepted the award on behalf of the company at the USA’s 21st Annual Executive Summit in Amelia Island, Florida.
