LOCAL SPORTS: River Hawks Tied for Conference Lead

The Armstrong River Hawks sit tied atop the PIHL Eastern Conference after a non-conference win last night at the Belmont Complex.
Armstrong came from behind 1-0 to send the game with Mt. Lebanon into overtime and ultimately come away with the ‘W.’
Forward Giovanni Romeo scored at 1:18 of the third period to knot the game up at 1-1. Romeo has 17 points in his first 13 games during the season.

Armstrong is now tied with Greater Latrobe with 20 points in the Eastern Conference. They have scored the most goals among all Class AA teams are in the Top-5 of least number of goals given up.
Armstrong’s next game now isn’t until January 4 at Robert Morris University.
Goaltender Taylor Smouse recorded 21 saves for Armstrong.
Mt. Lebanon falls to a sixth place tie in the Western Conference with 12 points.
