OBIT: Rose A. Cieply (Ford City)

Rose A. Cieply, 94, of Ford City, died on July 1, 2015 at “Our Family Home” in Ford City.

She was born in Ford City on February 15, 1921, a daughter of Cyril and Agnes (Zvonar) Prazenica.

She formerly worked at PPG in Ford City.

She was a member of Christ Prince of Peace Parish in Ford City, the Ford City VFW Ladies Auxiliary, lifetime member of the C.U. Club Board of Directors and Jednota Branch 200. She was the former president of the Friday night Women’s Bowling League. She liked bowling and bingo, Pinochle, and playing the lottery. She loved listening to Polka music, good Slovak cooking, and the Steelers.

Rose is survived by her daughters: Lisa and Kenneth Wilsoncroft of Ford City, and Geralyn and Bob “Ace” Freeman of Ford City; 5 grandchildren: Kurtis, Jennifer, Lauren, Janelle, and Jared; great-grandchildren: Jasmine, Jaden, and Damon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Leo J. “Horse” Cieply, who died on September 3, 2014; and sisters: Claude Ann, Mary (Molly) Spera, Anna Panchik, Josephine Greenawalt, and Agnes Prazenica. Rose was the last survivor of the Prazenica family.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at the Mantini Funeral Home in Ford City. A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10AM at Christ Prince of Peace Parish in Ford City with Father John Harrold celebrant. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Rose’s family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Michelle and Traci in addition to staff at “Our Family Home”.
