OBIT: Thirby A. Walters (Ford City)

Thirby A. Walters, 78, of Ford City, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Armstrong County Health Center.

He was born January 14, 1937, in Ford City, to Thirby Listen Walters and Anna Reitler Walters.

Thirby was a lifelong resident of the community, and formerly worked at Ford City Borough, the Armstrong County Health Center and was a guard at the mine.

Thirby was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, and enjoyed gardening, cooking and cleaning.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Marie Blusk Walters, to whom he’d been married since 1957; son, Kenith Walters Sr. of Ford City; daughter, Constince and Richard Parrish of Fairmont, West Virginia; sister, Shirley Lemon, of Chicago, Illinois; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Thirby was preceded in death by a son, Thirby Walters Jr.; five brothers: Ken, Leonard, LeRoy, Clark and Ed; and four sisters: Evelyn, Sarah, Delores and Freda.

Friends will be received from 1-4PM Friday, July 10, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 4PM Friday in the Mantini Funeral Home in Ford City, with the Pastor Jack Delk officiating.
