Ceremony Commemorated End of Civil War
Nearly 10 Brothers and Sisters of the John T. and Sarah A. Crawford Camp and Auxiliary of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War attended the ceremony Sunday. (Submitted)
The Brothers and Sisters of the John T. & Sarah A. Crawford Camp and Auxiliary of the Sons of UnionVeterans of the Civil War, gathered on Sunday April 19, 2015 at the Civil War Monument in Kittanning’s Riverfront Park, to conduct a ceremony
commemorating the sesquicentennial of the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia on April 9, 1865 and the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln on April 14,1865.
Soldiers from Armstrong County were present and recognized as being at both
events as witnesses to history.
