Local Girl Wrestles in Championship Matches

Mayce Wonderling received first place award at the Great Lakes Championship in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
An Eighth grader from Kittanning Junior High School was in Fort Wayne, Indiana over the weekend in a national wrestling competition.
Mayce Wonderling, 14, took first place on Friday at the Nuway Great Lakes Open Championship. She then continued into the Great Lakes Team Daul Championship on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, Wonderling, wrestling in the 110-pound class, lost her first match 8-3 against a girl from Iowa. She then won her second match against a girl from New York. She moved on to win against a 120-pound class New York girl, and won against a 155-pound New York girl.
On Sunday, Wonderling pinned the New York girl in the 2nd period. Although she lost against an Illinois contender, she pinned a Michigan girl in the 2nd period.
Over all, the Team Pennway (Pennsylvania) girls came in Fifth place, with having only four girl wrestlers.
