OBIT: Helen L. Karns (Zelienople)
Helen L. (Cornman) Karns, 91, of Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014.
She was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Kittanning, daughter of John I. and Eva Rose (St. Clair) Cornman. She was a lifelong resident of the community. She was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of First Church of God in Kittanning.
Helen was involved in a variety of activities at the First Church of God. Her love for quilting women’s ministries and sharing her gifts of pie baking and cooking brought great joy into her life.
She is survived by her daughter: Linda (David) Skinner of Greensburg; son, Kenneth W. (Joy) Karns Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; daughter: Lisa (Chris) Ramos of Butler; grandchildren: David (Stacy) Skinner, Stacey, Amy Seigenfuse, Andrew (Meghan) Skinner, Tina (Sean) Jeffries, Megan (Matt) Garvy, and Amber Ramos and Autumn Ramos; and great-grandchildren: Kaya and Chayse Skinner, Robbie and Alyssa Seigenfuse, Kellen and Cavan Skinner, Justin and Trent Jeffries and George, Stella and Henry Garvy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth W. Karns; sister: Alda Gray; brothers: Turney Gray and Paul Gray; and sister: Nellie Cornman Hutchinson.
Friends will be received from 7-9 PM on Tuesday, and from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning. Additional viewing will be held from 10AM until time of services at 11AM pm Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the First Church of God in Kittanning with her son-in-law, the Reverend Dr. David R. Skinner, the Reverend John W. Snyder, and the Reverend Nick Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Kittanning Cemetery.
