OBIT: Elmer E. “Corkey” Coder (Cowansville)

Elmer E. “Corky” Coder, 81, of Cowansville, died Monday, June 22, 2015, in Kittanning Care Center.

“Corky” was born June 2, 1934 to Clair and Virginia (Braden) Coder.

He was a retired road grader operator for Washington Township.

“Corky” enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing bass guitar. He built Coder’s Landing along the Allegheny River on Pool #8, and continued to be the caretaker there for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene (Reams) Coder; \ son, Edward “Tiker” Coder of Cowansville; sister, Theresa Turner of Orange, Texas; niece, Lorene Mukina of Ohio; and several nephews.

“Corky” was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Fred Coder, Bill Dritto and Mike Dritto; and sister, Rose Pluta.

Friends will be received from 7-9PM tomorrow - Thursday, June 25, 2015 - at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Cowansville.

Additional visitation will be offered from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM Friday, June 26, 2015 in the funeral home, with the Rev. Blaine Blattenberger officiating.

Interment will be in Sherrett Cemetery.
