Kittanning Christmas Kick-Off Receives New Additions

Kittanning’s annual Light Up Night celebration, which will occur November 19, has received a new title along with some other added extras to kick-off the holiday season this year.

“As so many communities all over our area call their celebrations ‘Light Up Night,’ Downtown Kittanning Incorporated (DKI) felt the event should distinguish itself from the many others by inserting our community name and calling it what it truly is: the event where we ‘Light Up Kittanning,’” said Armstrong County Tourist Bureau Director and DKI Board Member Miranda Shoemaker. “This night is about celebrating the season, but at its heart, it is about bringing our community together. In keeping the name close to what the community has known for years, while putting our community in the mix, the title ‘Light Up Kittanning Night’ fit the bill.”

Another new addition to the program this year will be the first-ever fireworks finale. At the conclusion of the festivities, Katatumbo Fireworks, a new, local fireworks company, will be providing the town with a beautiful end tothe evening by really ‘lighting up’ Kittanning. The fireworks show will be made possible by F&M Bank, DKI, Rosebud Mining, BLX Inc., Davis Consulting, Northwest Savings Bank, Nolan Raraigh State Farm Insurance, Elderton State Bank, ESS Insurance, AC Properties, and Katatumbo Fireworks.

“DKI wishes to thank all of the sponsors for making this year’s Light Up Kittanning Night the biggest yet,” said Shoemaker.

Those interested in supporting Light Up Kittanning Night may help out by purchasing a ticket for the Christmas Quilt Raffle at Jordan’s Paint and Glass. Additionally, there is a raffle for the Christmas Basket, which is chocked full of donations and gift certificates from local businesses. Tickets for the basket may be purchased at the Armstrong County Tourist Bureau. Tickets for both raffles may be purchased at additional locations.
