OBIT: Dwight Jerry Claypoole (Worthington)
Dwight Jerry Claypoole, 64 of Worthington, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at home with his wife, children and sister at his side.
He was born May 12, 1947 in Kittanning to Randall Henry and Dorothy Annamae Claypoole.
A lifetime resident of West Franklin Township, Dwight was a retired land/gas agent for Shawmet Development Co. and TW Phillips.
He was also a lifelong farmer and steward of the land. Dwight also served in the National Guard, Company E, 3D Battalion as a first engineer from 1966-1972.
Dwight was a member of Franklin Union Baptist Church, of Masonic Lodge #805 F&AM and Syria Temple Shrine.
He was active in politics in the Republican Party, served 20 years on the Worthington/West Franklin Joint Municipal Authority and was chairman and was also an Armstrong County Sewage Authority board member. He also served on Worthington Borough Council for 18 years, and was past council president.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Charlene (Thompson) Claypoole; two sons: Grant (and wife Tracy) Claypoole of Worthington and Gregg (and wife Cortney) Claypoole of Worthington; daughter, Gail Claypoole of Butler, sister, Charlene ( and husband Rich) Claypoole Perine of Worthington; and six grandchildren: Lauren and Marshall, and Garrett, Natalie, Braden and Charleigh.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received from 7-9PM tomorrow - Thursday, November 6, 2014 - and from 2-4 and 7-9PM Friday, November 7, 2014 at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home in Worthington.
Additional visitation will be held from 10AM Saturday, November 8, 2014 until the time of funeral services at 11AM at Franklin Union Baptist Church.
The Pastor Scott Jones will be officiating.
A mason service will be held at the funeral home at 7PM Friday.
Interment will be in Franklin Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the Franklin Union Baptist Church in Worthington or VNA Hospice Services.
