OBIT: Jewell Eve Fritz (born in Kittanning)
Jewell Eve Fritz, 79, of Tucson, Arizona, died Thursday, October 30, 2014.
She was born February 8, 1935, in Kittanning, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Schaeffer) Faith.
Jewell grew up in Kittanning, attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Home Economics with a minor in teaching in 1957. In that same year, she married William Fritz of West Kittanning.
She taught Home Economics for one year at Kittanning Junior High School and in the summer of 1958, she and her husband moved to Tucson. Jewell went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arizona.
She taught kindergarten for five years at Bethany Lutheran Church where she also served as the church organist. Jewell continued her career as an educator for another 30 years teaching kindergarten, first and second grades in the Sunnyside School District in Tucson.
She was a talented artist, musician and seamstress.
She will be deeply missed by her husband of 57 years, William Fritz; two sons: Wesley Fritz and wife, Toni, and Bradley Fritz and wife, Gail; and two grandsons: Tyler and Brandon.
Jewell was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Janice (Faith) Meader; and grandson, John Bradford Fritz.
Friends and family will be received from 1PM until the time of the memorial service at 1:30 PM on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Bauer Funeral Home in Kittanning. Following the service, those gathered will be invited to speak and share their memories of Jewell.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Kittanning.
