Sewage Authority to Open New Office on January 7

Kittanning Sewage Authority Billing Manager Gary Moser has been organizing files as he prepares to move to his new office on South Water Street Extension next week.

Officials at the Municipal Authority of the Borough of Kittanning, also referred to as the “Kittanning Sewage Authority”, are busy this week packing their files and getting ready to move!

The Sewage Authority has been co-located with the Kittanning Borough office at the main borough building at 300 South McKean Street. However, following an executive session meeting and a public vote on December 3, borough council members voted to dissolve the agreement between the two entities and evict the Sewage Authority from the building.

“We haven’t physically moved out of that office yet,” Authority Director Mike Swartz said yesterday. “We will physically move out of the borough building on January 3. Our computer company will be moving our computer system on January 4. We plan to be in full operation at our South Water Street plant office on Monday, January 7.”

The Sewage Authority office will now be located in their plant at 122 South Water Street Extension. Swartz said the office is not hard to find.

“You turn in at Bradigan’s and follow South Water Street Extension down past the Bradigan’s fuel pumps. When you get to the end, we are the last facility on the right. It is a big yellow building.”

Swarts said the facility includes a huge parking lot and handicapped parking.

“There will be signage for customers. Customers can pull inside the gate, get out of the car, and be just a few feet from the door.”

Right now, the first order of business for the Sewage Authority is to let their customers know they are moving.

“We need to educate the public to the fact we are moving. We are going to do another mailing.”

As the new office opens on January 7, office hours will continue to be 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM, closing mid-day for an hour lunch period.

Swartz said that customers will no longer be able to pay their bill by dropping their payment in the drop box at the borough building. He said that there are discussions with a bank to also have monthly payments automatically withdrawn from bank accounts to make it easier for customers to pay their bill.

A new telephone number will be used as of January 7. To reach the new Sewage Authority office, call 724-543-2802.

The Kittanning Sewage Authority will move offices to their plant location at 122 South Water Street Extension near Bradigan’s Fuel.
