10/5/1968 – The controversy over the plan to have only two high schools in the Armstrong School District continues. Director Mrs. Joseph Constanza voiced her opposition to the two-high school plan, stating her concern is for the “average” student. “I won’t deny that there will be a better curriculum offering under the two-school system,” she said. “I do wonder how much the cast majority of students will really benefit from it.”
10/5/1968 – Five local residents were treated at the hospital yesterday for injuries in separate accidents. Thomas Stitt, 24, of North Grant Ave, Kittanning, reportedly tripped over a rail at work and injured his foot. Martin Scury, 79 , of 6th Ave Ford City, was hit in the right eye with a tree branch. Ward Lewis, 68, of Freeport RD1 suffered chest injuries in an auto accident near Cadogan. Lela Kieklmeier, 35, of Franklin Avenue, Kittanning, was injured on the left foot when a cabinet door fell on it. Plummer Toy, 24, of North Water Street, Kittanning, reportedly fell at work, injuring his chest.
10/5/1968 – Scoring in every period, Ford City High School football team rolled into its fourth consecutive victory at home as it downed Kiski Prep School 21-6. Only an opening loss to Freeport prevents the Sabers from having a perfect record to date.
