Members of the Armstrong High School Marching Band are concluding their pre-season practice today, according to Band Director Jason Venesky.
“The band has been practicing every day since August 7th, including band camp from 8AM-2PM the past two weeks.”
According to Venesky, the band has already performed together in an event this week.
“They performed at the Kennywood Fall Festival Parade for one of Kennywood’s largest crowds of the year on Monday.”
The band will travel with the football team on Friday night to Indiana, and then to Hampton on Friday, August 31. It won’t be until September 7 when they actually perform at the new Armstrong athletic stadium when Chartiers Valley comes to town.
“The band is looking forward to a ‘true’ home game this season Venesky said. “Our performance will not change with the new field, but our seating location will bring us closer to the cheerleaders and fans, thus allowing us to work with our cheerleaders to further entertain and excite the audience and help create a home field advantage for our football team.”
Other AHS Marching Band Staff are Assistant Director Melissa Venesky, Guard Instructors Tara Smith and Courtney Eiler, Marching Instructor Jason Krecota, Woodwind Instructor Charlene Krecota. Percussion Instructor Philip Wyant, Marching Instructor Patrick Cavanaugh, and Marching Instructor and Announcer Jacob Kanish.
