Trump Door-Knockers Gauge Voter Interest
by Jonathan Weaver
Nearly a dozen Armstrong County Republicans went door-to-door locally this past Saturday in support of U.S Presidential Candidate Donald Trump.
The effort was coordinated by the Armstrong County Republican Committee.
Armstrong GOP Field Organizer Nick Desisto said, starting about 10AM at King’s Restaurant in Hilltop Plaza, Trump supporters discussed issues and trained new volunteers in door-knocking strategies and administering election surveys.
“I kind of lucked out getting Armstrong County because Armstrong County is a pretty-solid red county. The response for Trump was very positive,” Desisto said. “It has been like that the past few months.”
A Robinson Township (Allegheny County) native, Desisto has been helping the campaign for about four months – door-knocking about 10 hours per week. At Kent State University in Ohio, Desisto majored for three years in political science before helping along the campaign trail.
“Overall, I really do like (Trump’s) message and disposition. The debate in South Carolina was when I realized this was the guy I needed to help get elected,” Desisto said.
Desisto found supporters of Senator Pat Toomey and Trump’s Supreme Court potential nominees inspire local voters.
Armstrong County Field Coordinator Tyler Cousins (who grew up in Kittanning before moving to Indiana, Pa.) also found this past weekend successful.
“Sources told me that it went fantastic,” Cousins said. “I communicate with Nick on a daily basis, and everything’s going well.”
Cousins became interested in politics while applying to colleges. He has also been assisting the campaign for about four months, and is currently a senior studying both nuclear engineering and political science at Penn State University Park.
Campaign supporters try to arrange door-knocking events in the region each weekend.

“I kind of lucked out getting Armstrong County because Armstrong County is a pretty-solid red county.”
Really, Is this where the Lies begin, last time anyone dared to look Armstrong County was split almost 50-50 along Political Party Lines.
Reality is that President Obama lost in Armstrong County in the last Presidential Election. However, The Democrats Won the state of Pennsylvania in the Presidential Election and have Won this state for the Last 30+ Years and Clinton currently leads Trump in the Polls of this state.
At this time a long list of Prominent Republicans including former secretary of State and retired four-star general Colin Powell called Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump “a national disgrace” and let us not forget Trumps Russian links!
Seriously, Donald Trump and The Republican Party are Unfit to run this Great Nation!

Armstrong County, If you really want to work on something, try working on the 48.9% of school children in the Armstrong County School District living below the Federal Poverty Level! Now, That’s a Real Disgrace!

Head knocker wannabees, don’t knock on my door.
Put your American flags out; the Trump lovers/Jehovah Witnesses are a comin’!!
Only go to those with Confederate flags.
What is this precious, GREAT country coming to? Are the Trump-loving Repubs being affected by the magnetic field, or what??? Is cell phone usage damaging their common sense and brain activity?
Go off to some island and leave us alone…the Island of Misfits… Christmas is coming soon.

“Overall, I really do like (Trump’s) message and disposition.” Damn, Talk about Disjointed Views!
What message do you like? The one where Trump asks Russian hackers to hack the DNC? Or do like the one where Trump admires the Russian President? Or better yet the message that he (Trump) knows more about ISIS than the American Generals? (Let’s Note here that Trump was Never in the US Military)Yet still, Trumps message about he doesn’t like captured American soldiers, he likes them uncaptured as if somehow they had a Choice, Ridiculous NON-SENSE!
Let us remember this statement about the Likes of Trumps message comes from a Purported Kent State educated man! Also, let us remember that just because you are educated it doesn’t Guarantee that you (Desisto) have Good Common Sense or that you are not Crazy!
Donald Trump is Unfit to run this Country, UNFIT!

@jd
Obama has been president going on eight years. What has he done to improve children in poverty? It has grown hugely…. Folks on food stamps have grown hugely….. Why should we give the blues four more years of that? Those polls are tightening up. Should be a raucous fall election cycle
Funny how all I see the dems do on here is trash Trump, who was not my first choice, and never proclaim the virtues of Clinton.

Wow. 3 immediate comments from jd718 on this story - and no one else. I’ll break my own rule of not reading liberal venom, and read jd718’s liberal venom.
Appears that jd718 is a typical confused liberal - “The democrats Won the state of Pennsylvania in the presidential election and have Won this state for the last 30 years” Then you go on to state, “If you really want to work on something, try working on the 48.9% of school children……living below the Federal Poverty Level.”
Let me try to put that together. The democratic party always seems to tout itself as ‘working for the poor’. If that is the case, why are the poor still the poor if democrats did such great work in Pennsylvania for the last 30 years? By now, the poor should have been well-lifted out of poverty.
When you wake up, jd718, realize that the democratic party is what keeps Pennsylvania in the background. The unions and democrats go hand-in-hand to control this state. We don’t have right-to work like Indiana and Michigan have - need a job? Go there. They’re hiring.
The operating engineers union recently donated $2 million to Hillary’s campaign. Interesting. Wonder whom the UMWA will donate to? Hillary, who has promised to end coal mining jobs and coal companies? That is sort of like suicide. Maybe ‘collecting’ is better than ‘digging’?
Bill Clinton goes into he Homewood neighborhood of Pittsburgh and tells the people that Hillary needs them. Do they need Hillary? Seems that Hillary needs a doctor.
I won’t go knocking, door to door, for Trump. I’ll simply vote for him and expect intelligent, informed voters to do the same. They can do their own homework.
Like Trump,I agree that Hillary needs to get well and get back on the campaign trail. As much as she lies, the dead bodies left behind, the emails, Benghazi, Bill’s womanizing, the basket of deplorables, on and on, we can easily beat her in the election. We might have a tougher time beating some replacement that the democratic party comes up with.
Get well Hillary and lie on!

Worthy, We should start with the Presidents approval rating as we speak today. 50% Worthy, that’s right up there with any, any Repub President at this time in their term! Now What Worthy?
Did you forget, and the Repubs are good at being forgetful, that GW Bush left office with the country going into a Deep Recession, That’s right a Recession, Try 8 Million jobs lost in a couple months! Should I ask you now when did you arrive on the this Planet Earth? Were you not here when the Repub GW Bush left office?
To answer your question: What has Obama and his Administration done to improve child poverty?
(Let me note here that you somehow took my post about poverty in Armstrong County and out of context I may add, to include what Obama has done, strange.)
However, As of April of this year, 2016.
“The private sector has added jobs for 73 consecutive months — some 14.4 million new jobs in all — the longest period of sustained job growth on record. Unemployment, which peaked at 10 percent the year Obama took office, the highest it had been since 1983, under Ronald Reagan, is now 5 percent, lower than when Reagan left office. The budget deficit has fallen by roughly $1 trillion during his two terms. And overall U.S. economic growth has significantly outpaced that of every other advanced nation.”
As of today according to RealClearPolitics the approval rating for the GOP Congress is a Dismal, Dismal 12.5% that’s just Pathetic!
How can you with any Clear Mind ask anyone to support your obviously Dysfunctional Republican Party That left the Country in Shambles the last time there was a Republican President is beyond Coherent!
Why should we give the blues four more years of that? You ask?
Because the present day Republican Party is a Sad and Dismal Failure and has a Pathetic Candidate that admires the Russian President and puts down Our Military! The Republican Party, At This Time is Unfit to Run This Country, Period!
By jorn jensen, September 14, 2016 @ 11:32 AM
Just Sprayin, you’re beating on David Croyle for this article? You DO know that David will publish an opinion that you would provide?
Back some years ago, a liberal professor lady going by the pseudonym Nellie Bly, submitted an opinion piece stating reasons that she was voting for Obama in 2012. David published it. He’d do the same for you. Nellie Bly did submit her real name - that would probably be a problem for you.
“Annies, get your guns”? Just Sprayin, remember, don’t be a hypocrite - liberals hate guns and the 2nd amendment. Stay focused.

@jd718 we know who the liar is ( take a look in the mirror), while the split is very close in terms of party regisration:
D 45.08
R 45.6
Let’s look at Presidential voting, it’s not even close:
2000 Bush 58.2%
2004 Bush 60.0
2008 McCain 61.6
2012 Romney 67.9
NOT EVEN CLOSE for 16 YEARS
Now, you know why Desisto said Armstrong is “pretty solid red”. Sorry the facts got in your way.
Oh, and Allegheny County PA had 10,140 people “double registered”.
Now we know why Voter ID is not favored by Democraps.
Countries such as Mexico, Honduras, India, Libya have Voter ID Laws. I guess Democrats are not able to get an ID in the USA, but folks from Developing Countries don’t seem to have a problem…
That says a lot.
Democrats are afraid to speak out against Hillary, they may end up getting Vince Foster’d.
Let’s look at Hillary’s “accomplishments:
1. Expanded Medical Care for Children..
Really ? That was T. Kennedy and Orrin Hatch. Hillary had NO role in writing the legislation, and her hubby was against this legislation. How valiant that she is taking credit for the work of a Drunk and Mormon.
2. Foreign Policy ?
Really ???
Russia, Libya, Syria,Egypt
I am highly confident that Hillary can do for the USA what she did for Syria, Libya and Egypt.
hillary is the personification of MAFA = Mistaking Activity for Achievement.
Let’s hope she doesn’t spontaneously overheat again watching a You Tube video.
Hey, I hear Venezuela is looking for a few good people, that seems like the perfect place for you and your ilk.

War-thing-Tin-Man:
Oh, we have sung Clinton’s praises…been there;done that. Has your memory been left all alone in the moonlight?
She has plans instead of pipe dreams.
The unemployment level has gone down under President Obama. He can’t control that the WHOLE world is in economic decline. Neither can he fix (in 8 years) the problem of poverty that has been going on for centuries.
Old Trump proclaims no more war on ONE hand, then says the first day he is in office he’ll get rid of ISIS! How-with “sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows?” He’s magically delusional.

The Republicans created a committee to grill Clinton.
“…opposition research book, called ‘The Complete Guide to the Benghazi Select Committee,’ which the super PAC is distributing to media outlets… It spells out the millions of dollars in costs associated with the committee’s investigation and takes aim at individual Republican members of the committee — highlighting one GOP member’s ethics probe, accusing another of giving credence to suggestions that President Barack Obama was not born in the United States and listing examples of Republicans fundraising off the committee’s work.”
From The New York Times:
Concerning hearings:
“Representative Elijah E. Cummings, the ranking Democrat on the Benghazi committee, offered a full-throated defense of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s honor, apologizing to her for his colleagues who suggested that she did not care for the people who died on her watch.”
“I also want to begin by apologizing for my Republican colleagues who apparently want to write your answers for you, or testify for you because I think it fits into their outlandish narrative of what happened.” [Quote from Representative Linda Sánchez, Democrat of California, criticizing Republican colleagues on Committee as she is addressing Hillary Clinton]
“Mrs. Clinton explained that she wished there were a more reliable force of armed contractors at the compound and more help from the Central Intelligence Agency on the ground.”
“Mrs. Clinton went on to say that she was not sure that anything could have been done to stop the attackers considering the way the attack played out. As for her own responsibility, Mrs. Clinton said she was involved with recommending Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens for the job and working on Libya policy before and after the fall of the regime.”
“’I was responsible for quite a bit, Congressman,” she [Clinton] said. “I was not responsible for specific security requests.’”
“Mrs. Clinton said that she was proud of the role she had, but that ultimately President Obama made the final decision on Libya. She said it was not unusual for someone in her position to explain foreign policy to the public.”
“Hillary Rodham Clinton said in her opening statements that any questioning about the attacks in Benghazi should strive to dignify the memories of the Americans who died there, and she argued that the United States should not retreat from a volatile and violent world.
After sharing some memories of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, who was killed in the attacks, Mrs. Clinton reminded the committee that she had already taken responsibility for what happened. She said she had tried to put reforms in place to keep diplomats safer.
Mrs. Clinton said that diplomats would always face risks abroad and that there would never be perfect security. She also recalled previous attacks on American diplomats in Lebanon and in Africa, noting that Republicans and Democrats managed bipartisan responses to those incidents.”
“‘I’m here to honor those we lost,’” Mrs. Clinton said, after listing the several investigations and inquiries into the incident. “’My challenge to you, members of this committee, is the same challenge I put to myself. Let’s be worthy of the trust the American people have bestowed upon us.’”
By Just sayin, September 15, 2016 @ 9:16 AM
Hillary will:
• Strengthen background checks and close dangerous loopholes in the current system.
• Hold irresponsible dealers and manufacturers accountable.
• Keep guns out of the hands of terrorists, domestic abusers, other violent criminals, and the severely mentally ill.

If Donald Trump wins this election and his company is not immediately shut down or forever severed from the Trump family, the foreign policy of the United States of America could well be for sale.”
