Coming off of their first win of the season, the West Shamokin Wolves will look to add to their success this Friday as they travel to Armagh to face off against the United Lions.

Last week against the Purchase Line Red Dragons, the Wolves were able to move the ball on the ground at will. Senior QB Devin Fairman was finally able to record a breakout game, scoring three rushing touchdowns along with a team high 157 yards.

This week the Wolves won’t have the benefit of playing at home, so it will be important to get the away crowd out of the game early with a quick score.

Each week the Wolves confidence grows and against the Red Dragons they had their best game, but United may pose more of a threat.

In United’s only loss of the season came against Northern Cambria two weeks ago. In that game, Northern Cambria was able to chalk up 322 yards on the ground. With the emergence of Dan Golstrohm and between Fairman, Jacob Szul, Denten Stubrich and Bryce McClafferty (who scored his first TD of the season on a 25 yard rush), I think the Wolves have the chance to put together a productive ground attack.

United has yet to win at home with an 0-1 record and West Shamokin has yet to win on the road with an 0-2 record - an interesting story line heading into the game.

The two players to watch out for on the Lion’s roster are running-back David Brothers the team’s leading rusher who put up 128 yards and a touchdown last week. The other player to watch out for is their dynamic kickoff/punt returner, Skylar Bennet.

If the Wolves offensive and defensive lines are as stout as they were last week against Purchase Line, then I believe the Wolves will be able to improve to 2-2 on the season. Their last game, in my opinion was the breakout game that the Wolves needed to build confidence in themselves and trust in one another, and as the game progressed the team flowed better and better together.

Kick-off is set for 7:00 PM at United.
