by Jake DeLuca

On Saturday, August 27th the Kit-Han-Ne Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will be holding their 20th Annual Hunting Heritage Banquet at the Kittanning Township Fire Hall starting at 5:00 PM.

Dan Frailey, a member for of the Kit-Han-Ne Chapter, explained what it is the National Wild Turkey Federation does.

“We basically try to improve some of the habitat for the wild turkey. We also donate stuff for the game commission. We have three scholarships (to give away) this year for seniors going to college or current college students, but they have to come to the banquet,” Frailey explained.

This year will offer something new – three scholarships for high school seniors heading to college or current college students. Scholarships range from $300.00 for first place, $200.00 for second place, and $100 .00 for third place.

The banquet will also have over $500 worth of door prizes, including anything from camping gear to pocket knives or flashlights and lanyards. The club will also be holding a live auction featuring well known artists such as Gary Moss, Ron Lowery, and local artist Larry Smail.

Tickets for this year’s banquet are $15 and that includes the meal, but what the club is really trying to do is sell more memberships. The Kit-Han-Ne chapter is offering a deal for membership and a single ticket for $50.00 and for couples the total would be $65.00.

For tickets and more information about the banquet or the Kit-Han-Ne Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, contact club President Bill Varner at 724-548-2820.

If tickets are still available, they can be purchased at the door the day of the banquet for $15.00.
