The Armstrong River Hawks (8-1) have been a consistant force in the WPIAL 5A Big East Conference and they are currently the number one team in the conference heading into Fridays game against the Kiski Area Cavaliers (4-5).

Heading into this game River Hawks running-back Zane Dudek will only need 68 yards to break the WPIAL single season rushing record (including playoffs). Zane already holds the WPIAL records for rushing yards in a game, points scored in a season, and the single season rushing record (without playoffs).

The Cavaliers are currently on a four game losing skid in which they have allowed an average of 34.5 points while only scoring an average of just under 6 points.

The Cavaliers offense has been shaky all year. Kiski averages just under 234 yards per game. To put that into perspective, Dudek alone rushes for 300 yards per game.

This year Kiski has started a freshman at quarterback in Bryson Venazio, and it hasn’t been an easy season for the young quarterback. This season Venazio has completed just 36.3% of his passes for 518 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. Rushing the ball isn’t Venazio’s strong suit either as he has -8 yards on the ground this season.

The Cavaliers lone bright spot offensively is their junior running-back Ross Greece who leads Kiski in rushing and scoring with 978 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Defensively Kiski has above average sack numbers on the season (17) and they have intercepted 7 passes.

The game will be at Armstrong this Friday for senior night, with kick-off set for 7:00 PM.
