OBIT: Rita Leona (Rupert) Shiring (Templeton)
Rita Leona (Rupert) Shiring, 84 of Templeton, died Monday, December 28, 2015 at home surrounded by family.
She was born May 19, 1931 in Manor Township to Aubrey and Theresa (Kreutzer) Rupert.
She lived in the community her whole life.
Rita was a homemaker, and member of Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Ford City.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family, but is best remembered for her kindness to animals.
Rita is survived by her four daughters: Marsha (Paul) Rosenberger of Kittanning, Diane (Joe) Neal of Templeton, Christine (Robert) Arrow of Indiana, and Lisa Shiring of Templeton; two sons: Vincent Shiring of Templeton and Joseph (Susan) Shiring of Kittanning; 10 grandchildren: Angela Anthony, Wes Shiring, Jason Reedy, Josh Dinus, Ali Mechling, Beth Shiring, Amanda Cieszynski, Becky Adams, Jessie Williamson and Tyler Shiring; 10 great-grandchildren: Lindsay and Brandon Lee, Caitlynn Shiring, Kaylie Dinus, Chloe and Cayden Shiring, Sarah Klukan, Makenzie and Karter Adams and Landen Williamson; and special cat “Babe.”
Rita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vincent T. Shiring; daughter, Theresa A. Shiring; and two sisters: Dorothy Green and Audrey King.
From the Book of Revelation 21: 3-4 - “With that, I heard a loud voice from the throne say: Look, the tent of God is with mankind, and He will reside with them, and they will be His people. And God himself will be with them. And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
Per Rita’s request, there will be no visitation.
A private service will be held on a later date, with Father Samuel Bungo officiating.
Arrangements are being provided by Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ford City.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rita’s honor to Orphans of the Storm animal shelter in Rayburn Township or Four Footed Friends.
