A Kittanning man jailed for nine days after driving through Manor Township with bags of marijuana in his vehicle a few weeks ago was released from jail earlier this week.
Zachary Revay, 24, waived his right to a preliminary hearing yesterday afternoon before District Magisterial Judge Daniel George and was released on his own recognizance.
Manor Township Police seized about seven pounds worth of marijuana from the backseat of Revay’s Honda CRV February 19 after calls about Revay driving recklessly through the municipality as well as Kittanning Township.
Police found four large plastic bags and a small bag of the marijuana.
Manor Township Police Officer and ARMNET Area Coordinator Frank Pitzer estimated a street value of about $15,000 for the substance.
Manor Township Officer Steven Cippel said Revay was taken to the State Police barracks in Kittanning to be evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert after possibly driving under the influence.
“From the smell of the vehicle, what we found and Mr. Revay had made some comments that he was under the influence; that made our determinations a little easier. Looking at his eyes, that smell (allowed us to) take him into custody,” Officer Cippel said in February.
Revay later declined to give a blood sample at ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township and was taken to the Armstrong County Jail in Rayburn Township.
Revay is charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture or deliver drugs, misdemeanor driving under the influence and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
Officers were optimistic that they were able to get more drugs off the streets of central-Armstrong County.

It’s a shame that Pennsylvania doesn’t become the first eastern state to legalize marijuana and get out of the horrific debt it is in currently. New York will be the first intelligent, money-savvy state to probably do so. We’ll see a lot of people moving to New York after that.
We are still living in archaic times—avoiding this legalization to , at the least, help cancer and seizure patients; AND voting for someone like Donald Trump. Really—it is embarrassing for our country that many of our citizens are “coming out” of their secret hatred of minorities, including woman. It truly is a disgrace for our country and for all humanity. We will go backward, for sure.
It’s such a waste of tax-payer money to arrest someone for using weed.
There have been many people who have googled how to move to Canada in case the nightmare of having Trump becomes a daymare.

The fact of the article is that this individual had 15,000 dollars worth of Marijuana in his car. He is obviously a drug dealer. Even if Marijuana was legalized for medicinal purposes, he still was breaking the law. I personally think that marijuana use for cancer patients and those with glaucoma is fine. Unfortunately like every other good intentioned law, thus law will be perverted quickly. It is like anyone believing that Bryant from the Steelers was using it to treat depression, is a fool. The man was getting high to get high. When using marijuana, a person gets high immediately. I think it is dangerous but if the law gets changed so be it. I’ll choose not to use it and hope all these potheads getting high driving down the road do not kill me.

Anyone under the influence of illegal substances should be jailed and fined, it’s the law. Until things (laws) change it is what it is! Have no sympathy for some Jerk Rolling around in a car with 15 Pounds, Really.

“Neuroscientists from the University of Buffalo’s Research Institute on Addictions found that endocannabinoids — chemical compounds in the brain that activate the same receptors as THC, an active compound in marijuana — may be helpful in treating depression that results from chronic stress.”
You have to be careful when you make assumptions about why someone does something!
“It is like anyone believing that Bryant from the Steelers was using it to treat depression, is a fool.” You should be careful about who’s the fool.

And I hope the drunken drivers stay off the road, as well.
Marijuana is helpful to people who get their heads bashed around…thus football players. I’d rather see them use the natural herb instead of pain pills.
