OBIT: Betty M. Marshall (West Kittanning)
Betty M. Marshall, 93, of West Kittanning, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at ACMH Hospital.
She was born on July 20, 1922 in West Kittanning, the daughter of Frank S. and Maude (Bowser) Shankle.
Betty was a lifelong resident of West Kittanning and graduated from Kittanning High School in 1941.
She was a member of the Grace Brethren Church of West Kittanning and was extremely active in the congregation. Betty participated in the Ladies Missionary Group, the Missions Department and Joy W.M.C. (Women’s Manifesting in Christ). She also belonged to the Gospel Light Sunday school class. Betty enjoyed working with the youngsters in the church and taught children’s Sunday school classes for a number of years in addition to working with the children’s programs.
All who knew Betty will forever remember her caring and gentle spirit, and she will be greatly missed.
Betty will be sadly missed by her daughter, Karen S. Hawk and husband, Russell of Kittanning; four grandsons: Adam Marshall and Jared, Matthew and Joshua Hawk; granddaughter, Jennifer Marshall; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 66 years, Percy J. “P.J.” Marshall, who passed away May 29, 2010; son, Rev. G. Kelly Marshall who died August 3, 2012; eight brothers: Frank S. “Ike”, Walter Jack, Omer, Harry B., Leslie Ray, Clarence, Harold “Fred” , and Delbert L. Shankle; and two sisters: Leona Shankle and Georgia Freeman.
The family will receive friends from 2-4PM and 7-9PM today - Tuesday, December 15, 2015 - at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Kittanning.
Additional visitation will be from 10AM until the time of funeral services at 11AM tomorrow - Wednesday, December 16, 2015 - at the Grace Brethren Church, 215 Arthur Street, Kittanning, with Dr. Larry Edwards, Pastor officiating.
