A woman was taken to a local hospital after her vehicle crashed into a utility pole late-yesterday afternoon.
About 10 minutes before 5PM, Bethel Township, Ford Cliff and Ford City firefighters, as well as a Ford City EMS crew and a Pennsylvania State Police unit, responded to the one vehicle accident along Route 66 in Bethel Township.
The accident occurred between Crooked Creek Dam Road and Dime Road (Alternate Route 66).
A first responder reported that the female driver – who has not yet been identified by State Police troopers from the Kittanning barracks - hit her head off the steering wheel airbag.
The woman was transported by Ford City EMS to ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township. Her medical status is unknown at this time.
The vehicle accident caused firefighters to monitor one lane of alternating motor traffic for about a half-hour
Fire fighters determined the driver hit a utility pole owned by West Penn Power. No telephone or electric wires were left dangling because of the accident, but shearing of the pole caused first responders to think the pole needed replacement.
Firefighters were on-scene for about a half-hour before Pennsylvania State Police troopers continued the investigation. The vehicle did not obstruct traffic after firefighters left the scene.
