Sheriffs’ Department Offers Extended Hours
by Jonathan Weaver
All-day workers who can’t make it to the County Courthouse for their concealed carry permit are now in luck.
Sheriff Bill Rupert said one day of the month will continue to be set aside for those residents who are unavailable during normal office hours.
“The second Wednesday of the month we stay open by-appointment for people who can’t always get here by 4:30PM to get their permits,” Sheriff Rupert said. “Those people can make an appointment and we will stay late that day.”
Sheriff Rupert stressed that the department used to be open until 7PM the second Wednesday, but nobody would come to the courthouse for a respective permit – hence the need to make an appointment now.
“We’re going to continue to do this to help the public for people who work late and can’t get in here, but they must call and let us know,” Sheriff Rupert said.
