Templeton Man Scammed in Latest Money Scheme
A Templeton man was the recent target of a money scam.
24-year-old Andrew Scott Orr applied online for a loan at cashadvanceamerica.com, at which time he was contacted to disclose further personal information in order to obtain the loan.
The company allegedly required him to send them money in order to secure the loan. The company at that time placed money into his account, then required him to send additional money back to them per loan insurance.
The victim sent the additional money via MoneyGram at the East Franklin Wal-Mart, and received more money back from the company. The company then required him to send the entire amount back to them. Orr sent all the money back to the company after they had placed stop payments on the checks deposited into the victim’s account.
This incident occurred between October 26 and October 30, 2015.
Pennsylvania State Police in Kittanning listed the incident as a case of fraud.
