OBIT: Delbert F. Miller (Ford City)
Delbert F. Miller, 66, of Ford City, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015, in ACMH.
He was born February 1, 1949 in Kittanning to the late Arthur E. and Betty (Grafton) Miller.
Delbert graduated from Kittanning High School in 1968. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam from March 1969 to March 1970.
Delbert was an employee of Allegheny River Mining Co. from 1970 to 1971 and the R and P Coal Co. from 1972 to 1998. After that, he obtained his CDL license and did various jobs doing maintenance and driving truck until his retirement in 2012.
He was a member of Kittanning Free Methodist Church in Kittanning, and UMWA.
Delbert enjoyed hunting - especially with his son, Matthew -, spending time with his grandchildren and helping other people. He also enjoyed camping - especially when his children were young -, bowling on Friday Night League at Kings Lanes and watching football.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Smail) Miller, whom he married December 28, 1968, in the Salem (Hills) United Church of Christ; three sons: Scott C. Miller and wife, Melissa, of Kittanning, Daniel K. Miller and wife, Amy, of Kittanning and Matthew R. Miller and wife, Erica, of Ford City; daughter, Kelly S. Miller, of Ford City; loving grandpa to grandsons Michael Miller and Jacob Miller; loving pappy to Aurora Miller and Olivia Miller; four brothers: William Miller and wife, Cathy, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Joseph Miller and wife, Marlene, of Charleroi, Thomas Miller and wife, Joy, of Cocoa Beach, Florida, and Russell “Kenny” Miller and companion, Dolly, of Rural Valley; sister, Betty Livengood and husband, David, of Slate Lick; several nieces and nephews; two special nieces; and special aunt, Alice (Glenn) Crofutt, of Cadogan.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Russel Miller; sister, Cathy Lockhart; brother-in-law, Robert Lockhart; and his mother and father-in-law, Velda and Blair Smail.
Family and friends will be received from 2PM until the time of funeral services at 3PM Sunday, September 20, 2015, in the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
Services will be co-officiated by Pastor Harold Haire and Pastor Mark Crosby.
Burial with full military honors will follow at Salem (Hills) United Church Cemetery in Kittanning.
