OBIT: Margaret E. ”Betty” Toy

Margaret E. “Betty” Waugaman Toy, 91, of Kittanning, died, Sunday, September 13, 2015, at her home.

She was born May 26, 1924 in Manor Township to Charles E. and Helen C. (Heilman) Campbell.

Mrs. Toy was a member of the West Glade Run Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder and past Deacon. Her other memberships include; Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher Sorority, PA State Education Association, PA Association of School Retirees, and the Order of the Eastern Star #277. Betty was a lifetime member and a longtime volunteer of the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Prior to her retirement in 1981, she was employed as an Elementary School Teacher for 12 years with General Braddock School District, and previously taught for the Armstrong School District for 23 years. Also, along with her first husband, she was a co-owner of Log Cabin Hunting Preserve from 1957 to 1987. She also supervised the pony rides during the summer months at Kennywood Park for 25 years. She was a 1942 graduate of Ford City High School and a 1946 graduate of I.U.P. with a BS in Education. She enjoyed collecting antiques, riding horses, being a bargain shopper, and visiting with family and friends.

She is survived by; a grandson, Matthew Waugaman of Rostraver, PA; a granddaughter, Lisa Davis and husband Eric of Salisbury, MD; three great-grandsons, Bradley Wyatt Davis, Benjamin Davis, and Wyatt Davis; a daughter-in-law, Linda Waugaman; a step-daughter, Deborah Graham and husband James of Kittanning; a step-son, Victor Toy of Ford City; a step-grandson, Andrew Graham and wife Tiffany of Kittanning; a step-granddaughter, Airin Rupp and husband Jacob of Worthington; two step-great-grandchildren, Madelyn Graham and Elizabeth Rupp; two nephews, David Campbell and wife Audrey and Mark C. Campbell and wife Dona all of Ford City and a niece, Audrey (Campbell) Lingenfelter and husband Thomas of Stow, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ray D. Waugaman who died November 4, 1997 and her second husband, Jesse K. Toy whom she married January 6, 2001 and who died March 23, 2015; a son, George Waugaman; an infant daughter; a brother, Mark H. Campbell and a dear cousin and friend, Claire Ashe.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the Bauer Funeral Home in Kittanning, where an Eastern Star Service will be held at 7:00 PM followed by an Alpha Delta Kappa Service.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the West Glade Run Presbyterian Church, 943 Glade Run Road, Kittanning, with the Reverend Colleen McFarland officiating. Interment will follow at West Glade Run Presbyterian Cemetery.
