Republican Majority Leader Reed Disappointed with Governor’s Veto
House Republican leaders expressed disappointment yesterday after Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced his veto of the 2015-16 budget package, which included additional funding for education, human services and public safety, while holding the line on spending and taxes. The governor’s veto of the entire budget package, which includes rejecting important changes in both the fiscal and education codes, will hurt public schools and human service programs across the state. After meeting directly with the governor on Wednesday, House Majority Leader Dave Reed (R-Indiana) said lawmakers are disheartened by the governor’s unilateral action to shut down state government, but plan to focus their efforts on finding a solution to break the budget deadlock and reopen state government as soon as possible.
“Our ideal situation was to put together a budget that we had complete agreement with the governor on, pass it by June 30th, and move on to other public policy issues,” Reed said last night. “Obviously, that was not possible, so the House and the Senate moved together to send a balanced budget with no new taxes, pension reform, and liquor privatization to the governor’s desk for his signature. The governor made the unilateral decision to shut down government by vetoing the budget. In the end, we feel it was unnecessary. He could have very easily signed a budget or signed portions of the budget to keep government operating while we continued to negotiate other public policy items. He’s chosen not to do so. So we will go about the business of working to reopen government for the citizens that depend upon our state government in one form or another… our schools, our human service agencies, our neediest citizens… as soon as possible.”

“Add something of value.”
I’m sorry, I didn’t realize saying “and all is quiet” to stir up trouble was such a golden addition to this site. You must have lost your sense of humor along with that primary.

“How about giving us the liberal response to the article above?”
This is further proof that you are nothing but a troll. It’s obviously the type of argument you intended to cause with your original comment on this article. Quite the immature thing to do, Mr. Former Commissioner Candidate.
On that note, you’re the individual that keeps asking everyone who disagrees with you how they fared in the primary, so you seem to be the one hung up on it.
