PennDOT crews are putting away the salt trucks and snow removal equipment and getting ready to continue several road resurfacing and bridge rehabilitation projects in the coming weeks.

Detailed yesterday morning in District 10’s annual Spring outreach meeting at Kittanning Township firehall, Assistant District Executive Paul Koza said motorists will see crews repairing several roadways before Summer.

Motorists will first notice Route 422 resurfacing between State Route 8012 and 8010 in East Franklin Township - a $2-5 million cost before two local bridges are replaced. Other P3 projects are to begin later this year.

An estimated-$2.5-5 million will be spent in resurfacing State Route 1422 and Water Street in Manor Township beginning in April.

Resurfacing will also occur along Route 85 and Route 839 starting in April.

Bridge rehabilitation along the Kittanning Citizens Bridge that connects Applewold and Kittanning Boroughs over the Allegheny River – also known as State Route 1038 – will be completed later this Spring by Advanced Painting Systems, Inc.

The Freeport Bridge and ramps along Route 356– a $62 million bridge replacement that began in June 2010 - should be completed in about four weeks. Brayman Construction crews currently are 98 percent complete.

Phased replacement of five Bradys Bend bridges along Route 68 – an estimated-$4.8 million project that started in February 2014 – will last the duration of the construction season until October.

Several State Route 28 bridge decks will be rehabbed this year as well – a $2 million expense expected to be completed at the end of the year.

Deck rehabilitation of Garrett’s Ramp Bridge over Route 422 in Manor Township will be completed in April 2016.

Armstrong County Maintenance Manager Andrew Firment said residents should expect detours soon along Indiana Pike Hill Road and at the A-15 bypass in Manor Township white Francis J. Palo, Inc. crews work on the job.

The phased Logansport Bridge replacement in Bethel Township along Route 2029 – a $2.7 million expense – will also be completed by the end of March 2016.

The Nu Mine Bridge project that began in November in Cowanshannock Township is also going to be worked on by R.L Johnson Construction Corp.
