Freeport to Host Fireworks

If residents of the Freeport area begin to hear massive explosions this coming Saturday evening, they should not be too concerned. As part of the Freeport International Baseball Invitational, fireworks will be set off in Freeport Saturday evening, July 24, at 10PM.

The organization has gotten permission from the Borough of Freeport and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to use the marina. The marina will be closed from 12:45PM on Saturday, July 24, until 2:30AM on Sunday, July 25.

The Freeport International Baseball Invitational is not a tournament-style competition. Youth baseball players from as far away as Australia and Japan come to the area in order to compete. There is no fee to attend the games. This year’s Invitational has been going on since Tuesday with games lasting until this Saturday in places including Freeport, Ford City, Highlands, and Kittanning. More information about the Invitational can be found at www.fortheloveofthegame.org.
