Couple Celebrates 50th Wedding Anniversary
Sonia and Clarence “Piney” Hooks celebrated their 50thwedding anniversary with three-hundred family and friends on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Burnt Ridge Bow and Gun Club hosted by their daughters, Sally (Hooks) Martin and Mary (Hooks) Simmons. There was even a guest appearance made by Elvis (played by Bill Barnhart).
The couple was married on July 16, 1960, at Brush Valley Brethren Church, located in Adrian, Pennsylvania, by Pastor Paul Tinkle. Clarence “Piney” is a retired employee of Armstrong YMCA and Sonia is a retired employee of the floral department of Foodland. The couple is a member of Brush Valley Brethren Church of Adrian, Pennsylvania.
In retirement, the couple enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing cards, having cookouts, and making hobo stew. The couple has four children: Richard Paul (and Zina) Hooks; Sally (Hooks) and John Martin; Mary (Hooks) and Scott Simmons; and Curtis Hooks. The couple also has eight grandchildren: Dilland Hooks; Alyssa Martin; Cameron Martin; Justin Wolf; Eric Wolf; CarliSimmons; and Nicholas Hooks, with one deceased grandchild, Jason Hooks.
