The Ford City Ducks youth football team held off the Lower Burrell Recruits Saturday in the youth football SuperBowl, but just couldn’t hold them off long enough.

It was a scoreless game until the last two minutes when the Recruits made last minute drives to win 8-0.

The Ducks were undefeated going into this final championship game and the Recruits were 8-1. The Ducks had the number one offense and defense. The Recruits had only one loss, and that was to the Ducks.

“After nearly 100 days of conditioning and practices, extreme heat, cold, and rain we’ve managed to stay on top,” Head Coach Mike Gratteri said going into yesterday’s game.

Gratteri praised his team for their hard work, but admitted the loss was a difficult one.

“They laid it all on the line,” he said.
