State Police Patrol During the Holidays

State Police were vigilant over the New Year holiday weekend in watching for intoxicated drivers.

Saturday shortly before 2AM, an unidentified 46-year-old man from Adrian was stopped on Butler Road in West Kittanning Borough after committing a traffic violation. After further investigation, the man was found to be intoxicated. He was transported to the Kittanning barracks where a breath test was administered. His breath alcohol was .126%. Charges were filed at the office of District Magisterial Judge James Owen.

On Saturday shortly before 11PM, Trooper Katie Wietrzykowski initiated a traffic stop on Evergreen Road, Spring Church, in Kiskiminetas Township. A male driver was failing to operate the vehicle within a single lane and threw trash from the vehicle. “Upon approach of the vehicle, I was able to smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle,” Trooper Wietrzykowski reported. She said the suspect related he smoked marijuana an hour prior to driving. Additionally, inside of the vehicle, he possessed multiple items of illegal drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana. The driver consented to a legal blood draw and was taken to ACMH Hospital. Charges are pending blood results.

Just before midnight on December 29, Trooper Travis M. Turkalj initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Butler Road and North Water Street in Kittanning Borough for traffic violations. Upon further investigation, the male unidentified driver from Butler was determined to be impaired on marijuana. Charges are pending lab results.
